Students will take away new knowledge on this ever evolving dance form - what was once old is new again! Starting with a brief history on the dance in this time period (1920s-1970s), the workshop focuses on the early half of the era and will include key dancers, costume styling, what props were used and how, and the musical differences then and now. You will be taught signature hand and arm movements, delicate nuances, easy to remember dance combinations, and conclude by putting them together to create a vintage intro to a song of the time period. Included in the workshop fee will be detailed notes for better retention, including keywords of the Golden Era dance styling, arm patterns, and dance combos. An extra bonus for students of this workshop will be exclusive access to an online tutorial, which students should access before the workshop. A link will be emailed to every registered student one week before the workshop.
If available, students should bring a veil and a skirt, preferably free flowing and with slits (to layer over, not replace your leggings/pants). If a skirt is not available, please bring an extra veil. Beginners are welcome to attend the workshop.
